| While admittedly not an audiophile, I have been quite pleased with the quality of sound from these speakers. I purchased six of these to mount in-ceiling to round out my 7.1 system. The aim-able tweeters on these speakers make it possible to fine-tune a sweet spot. I was quite impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the mounting system. No rattles or anything out of the ordinary. Overall, a great value on speakers that sound like they should cost much more. |
Great Speakers. Look no more.

I'm very pleased with this product. Great price, great sound, great quality. Installation of the speakers is actually quite easy. The difficult part is running the wires. So far, I have installed 10 pairs of these speakers throughout my house. I have bought 3 more pairs that I have yet to install, and 1 dual-voice coil AS7C for the shower. The installation looks very professional, no wires to see.
I use 14 gauge wire (CL-3 for in-wall installation). 16 gauge would be ok as well, but some of the distances were over 50 feet, so I decided to go 1 gauge thicker. For the installation, I use the included template. I use a stud finder to ensure there are no studs in the way. I also find the stud to ensure they are 1 or 2 inches away from the speaker (not really necessary, but gives me a warm-fuzzy feeling that I'm safely away from them). I then cut the drywall using a drywall saw.
Since my house has blown-in insulation (not pad), I cut an 8 inch section of insulation pad (Home Depot sell a 2 x 2 feet section for about $5) and put it into the ceiling as soon as I'm done cutting the drywall. This serves 3 purposes: it replaces the insulation that fell while I was cutting, prevents the blown-in insulation from falling into the speaker (probably the most important of the purposes), and serves as an enclosure for the speaker. Then I ran the wires through the attic.
The brackets for the speakers are built in, so all you do is put the speaker in place and tighten the 4 screws (that causes the brackets to fall in place and lock the speaker into the drywall).
The only drawback is that the speaker connectors are push-in style. I would have prefered a screw-in type to ensure the wire can't be pulled accidentally while walking in the attic. To work-around this, I just used a cable tie to one of the braket posts to lock the speaker wire in place. Once the speaker is installed, you can't see any of these.
The sound quality is quite good. No complaints, especially at $55 a pair. Similar speakers can cost twice as much or more. You won't here the difference. I have only used them for stereo application, but I can imagine they work just as well for home theater application.
I use 3 Niles 6-speakers selector with volume control to power all the speakers throughout my house (18 pairs total). I power the Niles with professional amplifiers (American Audio 200 watts per channel for $159 each). In my previous house I also had installed 6 pairs of these Audio Source installed. For that application, I just wired 3 speakers in series (24 Ohms), and then wired the 2 3-speakers set in parallel for a net 12 Ohms. Then, I use a home receiver (a Technics) to power them. The sound was also great.

The only thing that was hard about the speakers was getting the grill off which I read in another review you just need to push in the screw.
Sound good better for Music than movies.... |

| Great sound for the price. Easy to install. I also painted mine with matching wall paint - blends in nicely. |

| These speakers are easy to install and provide a clear detailed sound when used in a theater settings. Additionally I have used this unit in several rooms as a " whole house" speaker system. They have a decent amount of low end and clarity. I like the 6.5 better than the 8" 2-ways which I own also. |
